The EAC is encouraging all members to come out to the Purcell’s Cove Backlands for a hike on Saturday, June 3. Come take in the spring beauty of one of the HRM’s many forests and learn about the Green Network Plan in the process!
PLEASE NOTE: This hike is rated a class 2 as defined by the Outdoor Council of Canada, due to fall exposure, technical difficulty and weather exposure. This hike is not recommended for individuals with poor balance. The rugged beauty and terrain of the Backlands includes loose rocks, protruding tree roots, and steep inclines at times. Depending on the weather leading up to the hiking date, there may be large puddles to navigate.
We will be meeting at 10am at the entrance of the Purcell’s Cove Conservation Lands, next to civic #557 Purcell’s Cove Rd.
Bring water, snacks, bug spray and appropriate clothing and footwear, as the hike will happen rain or shine!
The hike will be led by local artist Geoffrey Grantham (check out his website here) and the EAC’s Membership Coordinator Dana Lipnicki. The EAC’s Sustainable Cities Coordinator Jenny Lugar will also be in attendance to talk about the Green Network Plan!
Not a member of the EAC yet? No problem. You can learn more about membership at the event, and signup sheets will also be available. You can also learn more about membership here.
This event is free, but RSVP to Dana Lipnicki at firstname.lastname@example.org so we know who is coming!
