Two building code processes have opened up for public consultation. Join us on Thursday, November 29th at 6PM at the EAC to hear from Joe Rogers, Building Code Coordinator for Nova Scotia. He will break down the building code process and help us understand the proposed changes.
The Nova Scotia Building Code Process has a deadline of December 14th, 2018. The two major themes in the amendments to the Nova Scotia Building Code are tiny homes and adaptable housing. Adaptable housing means changes that are made to homes, in order to meet occupants’ changing needs over time. You can read about the amendments here: https://novascotia.ca/dma/firesafety/BuildingCode/
The National Building Code of Canada Review deadline is January 4th, 2019. All changes accepted from this review will be added to the 2020 model building code. Some amendments particularly relevant to the work of the EAC are the Air Leakage Amendments, Solar Collectors, and Water-Use Efficiency. You can see quick summary of the proposed changes here: https://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/eng/solutions/advisory/codes_centre/public_review/summary.html
