The Ecology Action Centre works consistently to improve access to good food for Nova Scotians, identifying how communities access food, and how food production and disposal impact climate change. Every year at this time, EAC releases a complete list of farms which offer a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and the ever-tightening restrictions on movement, safe, reliable food access, and support for local producers, has never been more important. This year EAC expands the online resource to include local farmers’ markets, local food producers, and community supported agriculture options which offer safe pick-up and delivery options.
Throughout the guide, you'll see a few different icons which help determine options offered by the vendor:
(CSA) - Community Supported Agriculture: a system for customer to sign up for a share in the farm at the beginning of the season, and receive a weekly (generally) basket of food from the farm.
($) - Indicates when a collection option has additional fees.
(M) - Indicates a vendor offering multiple pick-up or delivery locations outside of that core region.
(*) - Provides information to order from multiple, individual vendors and provides safe pick-up space. Does not currently take multi-vendor orders.
(**) - Offers delivery or pick-up in Halifax
