An interactive co-learning training for EAC volunteers and staff.
- How can I facilitate really effective and engaging meetings?
- How can I get more involved and take action on issues that matter to me?
- Where can I learn more about the EAC and its approaches & culture?
- What are volunteers empowered to do within the EAC ecosystem, and how can staff & volunteers work together for greater impact?
Power Up! is a unique volunteer leadership training program which was designed specifically for volunteer organizers, working group leaders, and action committee chairs at the EAC, or for volunteers who are newer to the organization and interested in taking the next step to get more involved.
This time, we are opening up the training for EAC staff to participate. Community members involved in other organizations working for environmental and social change are also welcome to join!
The training sessions combine theory and experience, and introduce participants to a broad range of tools and practices for facilitating effective and engaging meetings, working with group dynamics, and handling difficult situations within your team. The sessions also offer a deep orientation into how things work at the EAC, our philosophy, and the role of volunteers in the organization.
The training is delivered over four Tuesday evening sessions:
Dates: May 21st, May 28th, June 11th, June 18th
Location: Ecology Action Centre, 2705 Fern Lane, Halifax NS
Accessibility: The first floor of our building, where this training will take place, is designed to be universally accessible. We have a ramp at the front entrance with automatic door openers, a permanent ramp to the back door, a stair lift in the foyer between the split levels, and an accessible gender-neutral washroom. There is a good turning radius for wheelchairs on most of the first floor.
