Join the Ecology Action Centre for a special opening night screening of Sharkwater Extinction, the award-winning filmmaker and conservationist Rob Stewart’s final film. To be followed by a Q&A with shark and marine policy expert, Shannon Arnold. Learn about the species of sharks and ecosystems off the Nova Scotia coast, and what you can do to support local conservation efforts.

Sharkwater Extinction (2018) is a thrilling, action adventure journey that follows filmmaker Rob Stewart as he exposes the billion dollar illegal shark fin industry and the political corruption behind it. From West Africa, Spain, Panama, Costa Rica and France, to California, Stewart's third film dives into the often violent underworld of the pirate fishing trade. Sharkwater Extinction is a follow up to the critically acclaimed Sharkwater, Rob Stewart’s first film. Shark finning is still rampant, shark fin soup is still being consumed, and endangered sharks are now also being used to make products for human consumption.  Stewart’s mission is to save the sharks and oceans before it’s too late.

Sharkwater Extinction is Stewart’s third film, following his multi award-winning Sharkwater and Revolution.

The Ecology Action Centre is a member-based environmental charity in Nova Scotia taking leadership on critical issues from biodiversity to climate change to environmental justice.
