Sadie Beaton | Ecology Action Centre

Sadie Beaton

Sadie Beaton grew up in rural Nova Scotia running around in the mossy woods and hanging out on fishing wharves waiting for interesting things to happen. She has been working with Ecology Action Centre (EAC) since 2004, exploring everything from beach management to community-based fisheries advocacy to environmental justice here in unceded Mi’kmaq territory. In 2010 Sadie helped facilitate the start-up of a small fishing co-operative to carry out the first Community Supported Fishery in Atlantic Canada called Off the Hook CSF. These days she juggles life with two young kids, producing and hosting a podcast series about environmental justice called Shades of Green and supporting EAC’s Community Food Leadership certificate program. Her favourite animal is probably an eel.
