Canada has substantially increased its federal commitments on land protection, and it’s time for Nova Scotia to do its part!
It has taken over two decades for Nova Scotia to try and meet its 13% land protection commitment. In the midst of a climate and biodiversity crisis, we can’t wait that long to protect the natural spaces and species we love and rely on. The province’s Sustainable Development Goals Act (SDGA) is our best opportunity to secure a land protection target that will effectively preserve Nova Scotia’s unique and critical ecosystems. But decision makers need to know that citizens want more than just words when it comes to protecting nature.
