Why door-to-door?
Because there's no substitute for a real conversation. Knocking on doors lets us introduce ourselves, answer your questions in person and share why our work matters right now, in a way that an email or a social media post never quite can. It's also one of the most effective ways to build a steady base of monthly supporters, and that dependable support is what lets us plan for the long term.
What is the sign-up process like?
It's quick and there's no pressure. If you decide to sign up, the canvasser will walk you through it right there on their tablet and help you pick a monthly amount that feels right for you. Your information is entered securely on the spot, and you can change or cancel your monthly gift whenever you need to. Shortly after, you'll get a friendly welcome call to confirm your details and answer anything you didn't get to at the door. And if you'd rather take some time to think it over, no problem. You can always sign up later right here on our website.
What’s the point of becoming a member?
There are two big reasons to become a member of the EAC.
First, our work relies on the financial support of community members. By signing up to give monthly, you are making it possible for the EAC to keep fighting for the future that our communities and ecosystems deserve. Your donations keep us independent and authentic, because we don’t have to worry about losing our funding if political leadership or corporations don’t like what we have to say.
Second, members are a part of the EAC’s democratic process. You have the right to vote in our AGM and shape the future of our work. There is no requirement to be involved, but the right belongs to you.
