Living Shorelines at the St. Mary's Boat Club - Community Workshop #2
Join Living Shorelines experts and enthusiasts to learn about naturalizing shorelines and help design our newest Living Shorelines Demonstration Site! All are welcome, free of charge.
**Please note the date change**
Â
The EAC, Helping Nature Heal, and Halifax are planting a Living Shorelines demonstration project at the St. Mary's Boat Club in the springtime. Living Shorelines use vegetation and other natural materials to help protect land from erosion while allowing the shoreline to retain its dynamic nature and habitat features.Â
Â
On February 26th we held our first workshop to go over the basics of Living Shorelines and to start designing the layout of this project.
Â
On April 11th, we'll follow up on our original ideas and begin plotting out the final design. We'll start by taking a walk around the site to get a feel for the coastal features we're working with, then head indoors and look at the site design. Then we'll head outside and use markers and flags to show what we'll plant where, and make modifications as necessary. Tea, coffee, and cookies will be available.
Â
All are welcome to attend, whether or not you attended the February 26th workshop.Â
Â
Anyone who is interested in Living Shorelines, ecological design, or climate adaptation; who lives near the coast; lives near the St. Mary's Boat Club; or uses the boat club is welcome to attending this workshop, free of charge, and contribute to this exciting project.
