The People's Parade for Life on Earth

Join the third annual People’s Parade for Life on Earth!

In these tumultuous and difficult times, it is more important than ever to come together in community and celebration. Our joy, our love for each other and our resistance remain unstoppable! Join us for this year’s People’s Parade for Life on Earth to honour the Water and Mother Earth and to strengthen our collective spirits.

Mi’kmaw Elders tell us that now is the time to come together across all our communities in defense of the Earth. The People’s Parade is part of how we are answering this call. Following the leadership of the Mi’kma’ki Water Walkers, our celebration will be grounded in ceremony and in reciprocity with the earth and the waters.

Bring your creativity, your passion, your love and your rage and let us join in celebration as we stand up for All Our Relations, now and for seven generations in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my community group enter a “float” in the parade?

Yes! Everyone is welcome to bring your creativity and represent your community, your culture and your cause in whatever way you're inspired to do so. The parade is open to all community members, grassroots groups, artists, and non-profit organizations. The parade is not open to representatives of political parties or government bodies: politicians and elected officials are welcome to attend and watch the parade. Small independent business owners are welcome to join as members of the community, but please don’t use the parade as a platform for advertising. No corporate floats will be allowed.

What kinds of vehicles are allowed in the parade?

There are no cars or gas-powered vehicles in this parade! Walking, cycling, and wheeling are all welcome.

Do I need to register to join the parade?

Yes please! Here is the link to the registration form.

I’m not part of a community group. How do I join the parade as an individual person?

You are welcome to join EAC’s float, or join other general community members. Information on how to sign up will be coming soon.

Do you have funding available for groups joining the parade?

We have limited funds available to help support participating groups and artists, with funds of up to $200 for materials costs and/or transportation costs, and up to $300 for artist honoraria. Groups/artists will need to cover their initial costs and will be reimbursed. Priority for these funds will be given to Mi’kmaq, African Nova Scotian and other BIPOC groups, 2SLGBTQ+ groups, disabled folks and to grassroots groups who do not have access to other sources of funding such as organizational budgets. Please let us know in the registration form if this would help facilitate your participation in the parade.

What should I bring to the potluck community feast at the end?

First of all, yourself! Please come whether or not you are contributing food. If you can, please bring a reuseable plate, bowl or other container, a fork or spoon, and a cup. We will have some compostable plates, cups, and utensils available, but we’d like to minimize waste. If you would like to contribute food, you are most welcome. Please source from local, independent food producers - support local food sovereignty! Please label your dish with the ingredients, especially any allergens.
