Building Understanding & Connection Across Difference
Facilitated by our friends at CoLab, this workshop is for community members, leaders, organizers and educators who want to move beyond surface level conversation and create spaces where people can engage more meaningfully with one another.
In many spaces today, it can feel harder to stay in conversation across our differences. Stories offer a different entry point, one that allows people to be heard, to listen more deeply, and to begin to see one another in new ways.
In this workshop, we'll explore the Collective Story Harvest, a process that helps groups listen for patterns, shared meaning and what is emerging across individual experiences. Participants will build skills in curiosity, deep listening and perspective taking, and leave with a process that they can apply in their own context.
What we will explore:
- Story as a Bridge: how storytelling can open understanding across difference and support more meaningful dialogue.
- Practices for Deep Listening: moving from hearing to listening in ways that expand perspective and connection.
- Collective Story Harvest: how to listen across stories to identify patterns, shared meaning and what is emerging.
- Bringing it into your Context: simple ways to apply story based practices in your own gatherings and meetings.
Please note: This workshop is complimentary to “Hosting for Action: Inviting Participation, ownership, and Shared Leadership”. It’s beneficial to attend both sessions, but this workshop is also great as a stand alone.
