Laurie is excited to join the Marine Team as the Sustainable Seafarming Coordinator and contribute to the Kelp Kurious project, supporting the growth of sustainable kelp farming and marine stewardship in Nova Scotia. Originally from downtown Toronto, and now based in the beautiful South Shore community of Blue Rocks (by way of Halifax), she holds an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and a master’s degree in Marine Management from Dalhousie University. Prior to the EAC, she worked at Afishionado Fishmongers, a Halifax-based, sustainability-focused seafood company, where she strengthened her commitment to responsible fisheries and aquaculture and transparent seafood systems. Outside of work, she enjoys ultimate frisbee, bouldering, cooking, biking and keeping up with her energetic one-year-old.
