Keeping the "Know" in Nova Scotia

In early 2025, the Nova Scotia government repeatedly expressed intentions to expedite an array of resource extraction projects, such as fracking and mining â€” saying they wanted "to take the "no" out of Nova Scotia."

In the weeks following, legislation has been tabled that would lift hard-won bans on fracking and uranium exploration in Nova Scotia (read our statement here). This concerning legislation was paired with a great deal of speculation and misinformation about what expanded resource extraction would mean for the province's economy. The reality is, unchecked resource extraction poses serious risks to our environment and communities, outweighing the economic benefits these industries offer.

These fact sheets were written to clear the air on how certain industries would actually affect Nova Scotia and our communities, air and water. Let's keep the "know" in Nova Scotia!
