Bike Again is a volunteer-run, do-it-yourself bike shop. The Ecology Action Centre provides the space, tools, and some know-how, you do the work. Bike Again aims to get more people on bikes, empower them to repair their bikes, provide a place for people to bring bikes they no longer use, and to create community centred around a shared love of the humble bicycle.
We began in the summer of 2000 and through thousands of volunteer hours, we have repaired and loaned at least 2000 bikes!

About Shifting Gears
Shifting Gears (formerly The Women and Trans bike repair collective) seeks to create a space that is positive and non-intimidating to learn about and work on your bike. It is a space to explore bike mechanics and learn from other members, as well as a space to access tools and supplies to fix your bike. We aim to 'shift gears' from a cis male-dominated cycling and repair culture. All femme, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming folks welcome.
Shifting Gears is held at the Bike Again location at 5664 Charles Street.
Volunteer at Bike Again
Volunteer at Bike Again
We are always looking for new volunteers to share their skills, help run our drop-in sessions or help out at events from time to time. No experience is necessary, just a friendly attitude and a willingness to help. If interested, please sign up to receive our sporadic newsletter, email bikeagainvolunteer@ecologyaction.ca to chat to a volunteer or just drop by and say hello!
Creating Your Own Community Bike Repair Space
Creating Your Own Community Bike Repair Space
Community bike repair spaces provide a welcoming and accessible environment for people to learn how to repair and maintain their bicycles, as well as connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for active and sustainable transportation. Check out "Repair, Recycle, Ride: A How-To Guide for Creating Community Bike Repair Spaces," a resource for individuals and groups interested in establishing community bike repair spaces in Nova Scotia!
Donations
Donations
If you would like to donate a bike, please deliver it during open hours and our volunteers will bring it in. Please hand any parts and donations to our volunteers and refrain from ‘dumping’ anything in our driveway.
All bikes received at Bike Again are donated by the public to divert bikes from landfill. We do not purchase bikes, nor do we do trades. Bikes are either refurbished and made available to the public in exchange for a suggested donation or stripped for parts to reuse. Any funds received contribute to the running of the program. If a bike is beyond repair, it is recycled.
